COWDEN will be hoping that it is third time lucky this Saturday after the Blues were denied action for the second successive weekend by frost.

The whole Barrs Irn Bru Second Division programme was scrubbed by the freezing weather conditions but with Arbroath beating Stirling Albion in a postponed game last midweek Cowden's lead at the top is now just two points.

So when Stirling come to Central Park this Saturday everyone connected with the Blue Brazil will be eagerly hoping that the weather is much better this weekend, for Cowden now have three postponed fixtures to catch up on.

The Albion are under new manager Greig McDonald and have been proving very difficult to beat although they have been struggling to score goals.

On the face of it this is an ideal opportunity for Cowdenbeath to get back to winning ways.

Player/manager Colin Cameron will sit out this game and a few more out as he recovers from his medial injury and he is desperate for his side to see some action.

He said this week, "It is very frustrating to see games called off but it is something which is pretty typical of this time of year.

"Hopefully we can get back into action this Saturday for we want to start collecting points again although Stirling will work hard at making life difficult for us.

"When we lost that game at Forfar it gave Arbroath the chance to close the gap and they won their game in hand to make it only two points now so we know that we need to win this Saturday.

"There are still 16 games left and we know full well what is required and we have to start by collecting a win this Saturday but we will only achieve it by playing at our best and converting the chances that come our way."

The enforced lay-off has ensured that Joe Mbu (right), Mark Ramsay and skipper Jon Robertson are fully fit and all three are virtual certainties to be in their usual roles this weekend.

Craig Winter is almost certain to take Mr Cameron's place in the defensive central midfield role and it could be that Scott Linton will remain at left-back with Ramsay being fit.

With three fixtures to re-arrange Cowden will be looking to getting these matches played within the next four to five weeks.
