Play-off chasers next up
COWDENBEATH face another tough game this Saturday when Brechin City come to Central Park.
City had a poor start to the season, apart from beating Cowden in October at Glebe Park, but since the turn of the year they have been picking up points steadily and are within sight of a play-off spot.
Brechin are in sixth spot but are only five points off Stenhousemuir in fourth, so they will have plenty to play for this weekend.
Cowden player/boss Colin Cameron is fully aware of the dangers posed by City but he was pleased with the way his side tackled the unfolding challenges at Gayfield.
He said, "To lose Joe Mbu so early in the game was a real blow but the recast defence did very well. To lose the first goal made life even tougher.
"However, we kept working hard and Marc McKenzie took his goal brilliantly to put us level but then Scott Linton was sent off.
"It meant we had to fight really hard in the closing 15 minutes of the game and the lads responded excellently to earn a good point which could be so vital at the end of the season".
Jon Robertson dropped back into defence after Linton's dismissal and Adamson took on the left back role once more and they kept the Lichties out.
Gary Fisher had another busy game at Arbroath and is proving a useful signing.
The manager was hoping that his side would come through the re-arranged match with Stirling Albion on Tuesday night with no more injury problems to report.
Joe Mbu had to retire after only three minutes at Arbroath but he may be fit for the City clash.
Added the manager, "Joe felt a tightening in his groin and he did the right thing to come off.
"He was feeling it a lot easier by the time we came home."
If he has to make a chang he e may well opt for a Craig Winter return to cover the gap for what will be a hard game.
"Having to make changes to cover the injury problems developing shows how important it is to have a strong squad and I feel we have the players here at Central Park to cover the requirements needed."
Scott Linton served his suspension on Tuesday night so should be back in the plans for Saturday.
The player/boss is also well on the way to a full recovery from his medial problem while Thomas O'Brien is recovering from his foot injury.
"Thomas and myself had a full work-out on Monday and we both felt pretty good after it," he added.
"I hope that Thomas may well be available for this weekend although I think it will come too soon for myself."
